He lives in a city with a Salafi Masjid yet does not attend | Shaykh Aḥmad an-Najmī
A questioner from Britain says: O Shaykh what is our position concerning a man who lives in a city in which there is a Salafī masjid.
This man does not walk (and interact) with the Salafīs nor does he attend the Salafī masjid and when he is advised he says that he is busy.
Upon this know that he prays in the masjids of the Hizbīs.
Shaykh Aḥmad an-Najmī ( رحمه الله):
This is evidence that he is a Hizbī.
And when Sufyān ath-Thowrī visited Al-Basra and he saw the people’s high regard for Ar-Rabī ibn Subayh so he asked about him; what is his inclination? They said: He is a Sunnī.
He said: Who are the people of his inner circle and his lessons?
They said: The Qadarīs.
He said: Therefore he is a Qadarī.
So a man is measured (defined & characterised) according to the people who he is inclined towards and likes.
And it has come in a narration: Whosoever conceals his innovation from us then (knowing) those he is close with will not be concealed from us.
Meaning: The people he is inclined towards he is aware of them, if they are innovators then he is an innovator.
And if they are the people of Sunnah then he is from the people of Sunnah!
